Thanks for making Bestival 2011 so ace!
We all had impossible amounts of fun in four amazing days at what we reckon must be the best Bestival yet and it’s all thanks to you! The bands and the arenas were all utterly astounding but they wouldn’t have been nearly as good if it wasn’t for you lot, so thanks for being the greatest crowd ever, it was a pure pleasure to see your little faces all lit up with joy!Rob da Bank says... "Wow, what a weekend! Maybe our best one yet? Big thanks to all the artists who played, to all the people who make it happen and to all the lovely people who come and party their socks off. Respect!"
All the way from Thursday and The La’s and Back to the Phuture’s synth action right through to the mind-melting firework finale it was non-stop party time. With so many incredible acts and sights and sounds it’s almost impossible to do Bestival 2011 justice in mere words but headline sets from Pendulum who tore it up playing their last show for 18-months, The Cure whose immense 32-song set had the crowd in awe as they belted through a majestic back catalogue including very rare performances of The Love Cats and The Caterpillar and Bjork's gobsmackingly brilliant closing set on Sunday night were all out of this world. And there were some truly unforgettable musical moments including legendary sets from Primal Scream, Brian Wilson, PJ Harvey, DJ Shadow, Fatboy Slim, the Annie Mac Presents crew, The Growlers, King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, Sound of Rum, Beardyman, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Yoda and, of course, the mighty Village People.
Our brand new stages were embraced by all, with The Psychedelic Worm going down a storm and blowing crowds away with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Tom Vek and Metronomy taking Bestivalites to new heights. The Swamp Shack was a portal to the past with its old school Americana hiding a hedonistic heart and The Roller Disco testing Bestivalites’ balance to the very limits with some dirty dancefloor vibes. And lest we forget the things that always make it Bestival, like Bollywood, The Black Dahlia, The Polka Tent, Come Dancing, Time for Tease and Tomorrows World with the ever popular WI.
