Bike to Bestival is back and it’s bigger than ever with not just one route but two! Last year’s Bournemouth to Bestival ride was so successful it’s back, and, upping the ante for 2018, we are adding a two-day Bristol to Bestival route for pro-riders. With free entry to the festival, an exclusive Bike to Bestival t-shirt and reserved camping for all official participants, we want you to join us to help to reduce our environmental impact and to raise money for two fantastic charities!
Rob da Bank says: “Here we go again. We’re always going to love people who really put the effort in to make it to the party, so Bike to Bestival gets us all very excited. Our Bournemouth ride is properly established now and with the addition of a pro-rider Bristol leg, both raising money for two brilliant charities, there’s plenty of opportunity for all you adventurous Bestival types. So, bust out your spandex and saddle up to support some great causes on your way to our Jurassic Coast knees-up.”
Run in conjunction with Velo Domestique once again, this year our Bournemouth Bike to Bestival ride will be raising money in aid of the Campaign Against Living Miserably [CALM]. Setting off on 2nd August riders will be accompanied by a team of skilled marshals who will keep everyone on track, motivated, and ensure they arrive safely at Bestival. Riders of any ability can join this 25-mile ride but must have a roadworthy bicycle to take part.
Simon Gunning, CEO of CALM, said: “CALM has always worked closely with the music and festival community, so we’re delighted to partner with Bestival this year, especially on the Bike to Bestival ride. Events like this allow CALM to raise awareness of the fact that suicide is the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK, as well as highlighting the support available for anyone who is struggling. Cycling is of huge benefit to general wellbeing on top of physical fitness and can be especially powerful when groups come together to take on a collective challenge. We’re wishing all riders well and look forward to championing CALM at Bestival 2018.”
Raising the stakes for our second year on the Lulworth Estate, we also have a new Bristol Bike to Bestival ride run in conjunction with Door & Rivet Café raising funds for The Bristol Bike Project. Only open to advanced riders, the Bristol to Bestival ride will take two-days beginning on Wednesday 1st August with a stopover at a campsite en route, arriving at the festival on Thursday 2nd August. There will be marshals accompanying riders, but we must stress it is a tough route and only experienced applicants can be considered.
Participants for each ride will be required to pay a £50 administration fee and raise a minimum of £200 for our chosen charities. The Bestival team will give successful entrants all the help they need to get their fundraising pages set up, as well as some help through our promotion channels.
