Introduction

Bestival is commited to engaging with the local community. We regularly engage with Purbeck District Council, Dorset County Council, Police, Fire and Ambulance; the highways and transport teams at South West Trains and Go South Coast. We also listen carefully to the parish councils in the surrounding areas of the event.

Details of the forthcoming Camp Bestival & Bestival events at Lulworth Castle are below:
• Build starts – Wednesday 11th July
• Camp Bestival – Thursday 26th July to Sunday 29th July (inclusive)
• Bestival – Thursday 2nd August to Sunday 5th August (inclusive)
• Break finishes – Friday 17th August

Please note:
• Camp Bestival – there is no amplified music on Thursday except for pre-agreed sound checks between 16:00 and 19:00
• Bestival – no amplified music on Thursday until after 16:00, except for pre-agreed soundchecks between 13:00 and 16:00

Working with the Local Community

A dedicated Externals Event Manager will be working with residents to discuss and resolve issues and feedback any suggestions for future improvement.

Representatives from our Event Management Team, including Acoustic Consultants, together with representatives from Purbeck District Council will also be on site throughout the weekend to respond to any issues.

Security

Security staff will be on duty in East Lulworth and Coombe Keynes villages for the duration of the events.

Traffic Management

Event Build & Break Traffic
• All contractor traffic coming to Lulworth Castle have been instructed to access the site via the B3070 across the Range Road and around the village bypass to avoid East Lulworth Village as is practicable. Some vehicles will need to access the site via Blue Gate to the east of the site, via East Lulworth village. This will be kept to a minimum. Break traffic will be directed in reverse.

Event Visitors Arrival
• Arrival from the West – directed off the A352 at Burton Cross onto New Buildings Road
• Arrival from the East and the Home Counties – directed south from Bere Regis, to Wool roundabout then East bound on the A352, turning right onto the B3070 over Holmebridge level crossing
• Arrival from Poole / Bournemouth – directed south on the Wareham by-pass at the Worgret roundabout. At the Springfield Hotel traffic will be directed onto Holme Lane

Event Visitors Leaving
• All egress traffic will be directed back the way they arrived

One Way Systems
New Buildings Road
• One-way southbound from 07:00 Thursday to 17:00 Sunday, both events
• One-way northbound from 17:00 Sunday to 15:00 Monday, Holme Lane, both events
• One way westbound from 07:00 to 19:00 Thursday & Friday, both events
• One way eastbound from 07:00 to 15:00 Monday, both events
B3070
• A section of the B3070 will become one way for the duration of the event. This stretch of road will run east from White Gate / Lulworth Castle entrance to the junction of the B3070 and the Military Bypass, forming a clockwise loop
• The one-way system will be in place from 23:59 Monday 23rd July to 23:59 Monday 7th August, both events

Temporary Speed Limits

Temporary speed limits will be in place from 23:59 Sunday 8th July until 23:59 Tuesday 14th August. Details can be found on the Camp Bestival & Bestival residents information webpage.

Footpath Closures

As per previous years, the following paths will be partially closed from 23.59 Monday 23rd July until 23.59 Tuesday 7th August:
• Footpath number SE 13 / 2

• Footpath number SE 10 / 4

Refuse Removal and Disposal

There will be litter picking teams in place each day and they will clean all surrounding roads in the area on a regular basis.

Policing

Dorset Police are providing an enhanced cover throughout the events, in East Lulworth village, the Camp Bestival and Bestival site, and surrounding areas.
Dial 999 if life is at risk or a crime is in progress.

Residents Tickets

East Lulworth / Coombe Keynes Residents

Residents of East Lulworth and Coombe Keynes are entitled to complimentary weekend general admission tickets to both Camp Bestival and Bestival.

All resident tickets will be issued from The Lulworth Estate office. To collect your tickets, you must present proof of address and photo ID.

Please note:
• Tickets are General Admission, no upgrades are available
• Tickets are non transferable and cannot be re-issued for any reason
• Terms and conditions and advice on prohibited items can be found here:
Camp Bestival / Bestival

If you are walking to the event we advise you to enter via Black Gate (the main exit gate from Lulworth Castle) and enter through the Castle Courtyard.

If you are driving to the event, we advise you to enter via Yellow Gate and enter through the Yellow Entrance. Follow event signage when approaching the event. Parking passes are not included in your ticket allocation. They can be purchased in advance through the Lulworth Estate, the Camp Bestival/Bestival websites or in cash on the day.

Please bring photo ID, proof of address and your tickets with you. All tickets will be exchanged for a wristband at the Entrance Gates to the festival.

Other Surrounding Areas

Residents of further areas surrounding the festival site will be eligible for 50% discounted tickets to both Bestival and Camp Bestival, following our community consultation process.

Please Note:
• A maximum of 2 adult and 4 child/teen tickets can be purchased per household, for both Camp Bestival and Bestival.
• Ticket are only available for purchase from the Discover Purbeck Information Centre. Discounted tickets cannot be purchased in any other way
• All tickets for Camp Bestival need to be purchased by 26th July 2018. All tickets for Bestival need to be purchased by 2nd August 2018. After this time, no purchases can be made
• Cash & cards are excepted for payment
• All tickets are for General Admission only – no upgrades are available. Discounts are valid for both Weekend and Day Tickets for Camp Bestival. Discounts are only valid on Weekend tickets for Bestival – there are no day tickets for Bestival.
• The 50% discount is considered to be 50% of the final phase ticket price.
• Parking passes are not included in your ticket allocation. They can be purchased in advance through the Discover Purbeck Information Centre, the Camp Bestival/Bestival websites or in cash on the day. These will be charged at full price.
