Pants to Poverty
A pan-tastic world record created at Bestival for the 'Largest gathering of people wearing underpants/knickers’!
At 3.45pm on Sunday 7 September 2008, Bestival played host to a brand new record for the 'largest gathering of people wearing underpants/knickers’.
The World Record Pant Flash was attended by 120 panters who want to remind people about the magnificence of pants to poverty’s mission to rid the world of bad pants!
Ben Ramsden, founder of Pants to Poverty, explains, "We’re delighted that so many pant lovers braved the knee deep mud and manhood shrinking wind and rain to help us set the record! The farmers and factory workers in India will be delighted!"
“Unfortunately in 2008, cotton farmers around the world are still being poisoned and driven into debt by the use of unnecessary, expensive and dangerous pesticides. Pants to Poverty recognises that we have a lot to do to make our planet a fairer and safer place but celebrates the fact that we have the power to do something about it. The challenge is ours and the power is in our pants!”
A Festival of Pants
Pants to Poverty has a spectacular range of ‘good’ organic and fair trade pants, from condom pockets raising money for HIV/AIDS work in South Africa, Purely Naturals supporting the banning of killer pesticides and the Festival of Colours gaining inspiration from our friends in India.
Pants to Poverty
Established by the youth movement of Make Poverty History, Pants to Poverty is a new kind of enterprise that really does have it feet firmly planted at a grass roots level at the same time as developing edgy streetwise underwear. Working closely with farms and factory workers, Pants to Poverty sources and sells designer fair trade, organic, sweatshop free pants from India. All of the profits are invested in supporting its mission to rid the world of bad pants.
