"Wow what a weekend - in more ways than one! The mud of the Somme with the spirit of Dunkirk as one Isle of Wight wag told me over the weekend. The crazy thing is that me and Josie and John and Ziggy actually feel more positive about this show than any of the others we've done - in large part because of the incredible effort all the festi goers made in the face of adversity and a huge amount of mud! I take my hat off to you one and all. And we've already had literally hundreds of requests for tickets for next year and so are delighted to be going on sale again this Friday! Come rain or shine, but preferably shine, see you next year!" Rob da Bank

We always knew our fifth Bestival would be a landmark event and we weren’t wrong!  With some truly freakish weather conditions matching our 30,000 Freaks Under The Sea fancy dress theme, this year’s Bestival took on a deeply aquatic flavour but true to form the Bestival brethren took to the conditions like er ... ducks to water.

Despite a month’s worth of rain falling on site over the weekend, spirits were rarely dampened at this year’s event and some proper madcap larks were had by all.  For all those that made it such an amazing party we really do salute you!  Bathed in true Bestival spirit the crowd’s determination to have some top class fun made it an incredible three days and for that we must give massive respect to one and all.

So we all know that it rained but that wasn’t the real story of Bestival 2008.  Astounding headline sets, from My Bloody Valentine whose jaw-dropping wall of sound captivated a slavering crowd, Amy Winehouse who embraced the nautical theme with gusto giving a spellbinding performance and Underworld who whipped the crowd into a Sunday night frenzy were just the icing on a giant Bestival shaped cake.  Foals, Aphex Twin, DJ Yoda, Beardyman, Pendulum, Roni Size, Will Young, Grace Jones and a pitch-perfect fancy dressed set from Hot Chip were just some of the acts that got the crowd buzzing during the triumphant weekend.

Plus, Pants To Poverty broke a world record for the most people gathered in one place in just their underpants, the WI served up some delicious Coffee Sponge’s, Lemon Drizzle’s and gallons of lovely tea. The Fancy Dress Parade and Club Dada added a huge dollop of off-the-wall bedlam to proceedings and a spectacularly enthralling fireworks display rounded off Sunday evening in proper Bestival style.
