Annie Nightingale

Bestival are proud to welcome back the legendary Queen of Breaks and radio's first lady Miss Annie Nightingale.

Way back in 1970 Annie Nightingale became the first female DJ to secure a show on Radio One and has gone on to become the stations longest serving DJ.

From the start Annie has made it her business to break new bands and champion new sounds that may otherwise have found it difficult to get any exposure at all and when you think that Annie gave acts like Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada their first plays on Radio One it's no exaggeration to say that without her influence we would be looking at a very different musical landscape without her.

Over the last 8 years Annie has concentrated on pioneering the sound of all things breakbeat, giving a voice and first plays to the likes of Plump DJs, Adam Freeland, Evil Nine and Rennie Pilgrim, all of whom have gone on to become heavyweights in the field.

Her Radio One show remains on of the most listened to specialist shows on the network and her DJ sets go own in legend wherever she plays.
