Santogold
Philadelphia is responsible for producing some of the coolest music on the planet and that is set to continue with the emergence of the stunning new talent that is Santogold a.k.a. Santi White. We say new but Santi has already been around the block and back studying music at university before landing a job as A&R for Epic Records in New York and fronting Ska Punk outfit Stiffed.
Her first gig on her own was to write and produce alt-R&B star Res' debut album 'How Do I Do' before deciding to forge a career as a solo artist as one Santogold. The first many will of heard of Santogold was when she provided the vocals to the Jam cover 'Pretty Green' on Mark Ronson's Version album but with the release of her first single, the double header of 'L.E.S. Artistes' and 'Creator', Santogold has turned heads on both sides of the Atlantic.
Her album promises to be one of the releases of the year and has seen her collaborate with the cream of production maestros including the likes of Switch, Diplo, Sinden and Spank Rock to produce an astonishing and refreshing record.
Live she's already supported Bjork by personal invitation and built up the hottest of reputations stateside, being compared to both M.I.A. and Karen O in the vocal and attitude stakes and is set to take over the world just in time to entertain the Bestival masses.
