Baaba Maal
African singer/songwriter Baaba Maal is a legend in his native Senegal and one of the most respected performers on the World Music scene. Born of humble beginnings in a small village he spent his youth learning any instrument he could get his hands on while at the same time building up a huge love of the American r&b sound of the time.
It was this love of contemporary American music that would make him such a unique artist as he mixed traditional African sounds with jazz, blues and r&b to create a body of work that set him aside from any other African artist.
He has gone on to write and produce over a dozen albums and has toured the world with his incredibly spiritual live show and we are overjoyed to welcome him to Bestival 2008 for an extremely rare live UK show.
