St Catherine's

Bestival Curator Rob da Bank is a patron of St Catherine's School on the Isle of Wight. St Catherine's is a national charity working with children and young people with speech, language and communication impairments to help them to fulfil their potential in life. One in ten - or 1.2 million - children have a communication disability in the UK.

Rob has subsequently visited the centre on a number of occasions and is a big favourite with the children and young people - "I am delighted to be a patron of St Catherine's as the incredibly important work they do strikes a chord with someone who relies on his voice and communication skills for his work."

Best Beginnings
Best Beginnings is a charity dedicated to ending child health inequalities in the UK. Their vision is of a future where all children and their families in the UK can enjoy best practice healthcare from conception through the first years; and for every family to have the information and support to help them protect their children’s health and avoid preventable illnesses and deaths.

Best Beginnings made breastfeeding its primary focus for its first three years. When only four weeks old Best Beginnings formed and led a coalition of more than 35 organisations, including five Royal Colleges and UNICEF, to lobby for the implementation of the Breastfeeding Manifesto. The Manifesto has successfully begun to open doors and the minds of key policy makers in Whitehall. So far, our campaign has secured support of over 250 MPs from all parties and led to promise from the Government to safeguard a woman’s right to breastfeed in public throughout England and Wales.
