Tomorrow's World

Envisaging an inspired, sustainable, green and fun future, Tomorrow’s World features our ever-popular solar-powered Bandstand, hugely expanded Science Tent, Living Pub and our local Farmers Market...

SCIENCE TENT
Curated by Dr Anthony Gallagher, Faculty of Technology, Southampton Solent University, check out our interactive Science Tent’s ‘lab’ demonstrations: see working robots and a Tardis, take part in an electronics craft workshop, build your own audio-visual interface, discover how renewable energy and old technology can help better our planet, get involved in dreaming up our
very own Bestival time capsule and witness a fully animated jukebox come to life  - with its very own superstar robot DJ!

SOLAR POWERED BANDSTAND

Our Bestival Bandstand again is completely solar powered – last year the sun ran the stage for 12 hours a day for 3 days. Once again be the spot to hear the stars of tomorrow in intimate surroundings and discover how to better our environment while supping on a pint of Bestivale.

PAVEGEN DANCE FLOOR
Pavegen are an award-winning technology company who design and produce energy generating flooring systems from recycled materials – every time people walk, step, dance or jump on the floor, electricity is produced.  Pretty cool eh? But that’s not all: at Bestival, this people-power will also generate interactive LED displays and the chance for you to charge your phone in return for a boogie on their floor.

FARMERS MARKET

Get stuck into the locavour lifestyle by indulging in organic home-grown grub, including Island Seafood, Calbourne Classics, local ice cream, BBQ sweetcorn, handmade burgers and strawberries and cream.

WONDERLAND INN
Bestival’s local boozer is stocked with a variety of enticing local ales, including our world famous tipple of choice, Bestivale.

CRAZY GOLF
Proving you can never spoil a good walk, we’ve got Crazy Golf with the best crazy golf course in the country. Fact.

MEDINA YURT
Made by schools and community groups on the Isle of Wight, the yurt will host drop-in workshops in the ancient art of Felt Making, now gaining popularity as a contemporary craft, with a return to sustainable materials with an environmental message.

GUERILLA SCIENCE
Discover how truth is unequivocally stranger than fiction with renegade researchers Guerilla Science, who mix science with art, music and play: cradle a tarantula at our Creepy Cornucopia, sample maggot canapés, traverse the fetish spectrum in our Dirty Sexy Quiz, listen to black holes, become a musical instrument, and come face to face with your own bacteria in our Microbial Zoo!

FOOTPRINT TRUST
Learn all about The Bestival Foundation’s first project – Adopt A Bottle with the Footprint Trust - supporting schools across the Isle of Wight giving under 16’s a free recycled bottle to get them thinking about water saving and water usage, which is an important issue for the local Island community and beyond. And play the poo in the loo game!

QUAY ARTS
Offering “art for all”, our local charity art tent is ready for your input into our 2011 Bestival Tapestry - join in with paint and textiles to make your collective vision of the future.

ECO-ISLAND
EcoIsland is delighted to be providing solar charging for mobile phones free through the technologies of its funky EcoMobile VW Camper - we charged 700 phones at Bestival 2010 and we are looking forward to beating our record. This year we will also be working with  the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, who’ll be providing some deck chairs in our chill out area so you can relax while your phone is charged.

THE SOLACE TENT
Solace is a cafe come chill out tent serving up free tea and homemade cakes baked by
churches from across the Isle of Wight.

MUCH MORE BESIDES
