Black Dahlia Cocktail Lounge

The beautiful Black Dahlia Cocktail Lounge will be located in the The Ballroom Field serving tasty cocktails and with music once again programmed by Greg's Greats and his uniquely analogue Shellac Collective. A group of pals dedicated to keeping 78s alive, the Shellac Collective DJ from original Big 10” Shellac records and bring with them live bands and acts whose musical roots are deeper than the Cheddar Gorge.

The collective was inspired to form after the death of John Peel (who used to play a “Pig's Big” 78 every night on his Radio 1 show) and they are dedicated to bringing you the very best from the time before your mother was born.

Expect a suprisingly danceable selection of Rhythm and Blues, 30s Dance Band, Swing, Skiffle, Jazz, African, Latin, Calypso, Rock-a-billy and Rock and Roll 78s.  The music is happy, uplifting and inspiring and never fails to amaze newcomers as to just how good something this old can be!!

The line up in the Black Dahlia this year is better than ever with the original vintage sounds of the Shellac Collective DJs being complimented by an amazing array of live acts including Ade Edmondson's Bad Shepherds, Sara Spade, The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band, The Siren Sisters, The Vagaband, Punks not Dad, Adam Palma, Ethan Ash and, of course, The Henry Brothers.

So if you want to get away from synthesisers and drum machines for a while - this is the retreat you need... and it comes highly recommended!
