No-one understands how to put on the ultimate party better than the good people of Bestival which is why, this year we’ve gone out of our way to make sure we secured the services of the ultimate party band, Village People.

If one group defines the decadence and flamboyance of the disco era then that group has to be the Village People. Taking their name from New York’s Greenwich Village, itself the epicentre for all things disco in the mid-seventies the group exploded from the underground gay scene into the mainstream in a matter of months as a Police Officer, a Native American, a Cowboy, a Biker, a Construction Worker and a G.I. took over the clubs, charts and televisions of the world.

Their back catalogue of anthems like San Francisco I Love You, I Am What I Am, Macho Man, In the Navy, Go West and of course Y.M.C.A. is quite frankly astonishing and even 30 years after they first took to the stage their live show is still renowned as the best disco party you’re ever likely to experience and promises to be yet another show stopping Bestival moment.
