Time For Tease

The Time For Tease tent uniquely fuses the tradition of British afternoon tea with the decadent world of burlesque cabaret and is an essential port of call during your time at Bestival!

It's been a huge success for the last 4 years and will be back for 2010 - bigger, better and downright saucier!

Afternoon Tea
Their afternoon tea sittings always prove incredibly popular. It costs nothing to book a table and we strongly advise you to reserve your place as soon as you arrive onsite to avoid disappointment. If you know how many people will be in your party and which tea sitting you’d like to book for, you can email reservations(at)timefortease.co.uk and Time For Tease will confirm all web bookings by mid August.

Tea sitting times this year are as follows:

Friday
2.00 pm – 3.00 pm
3.30 pm – 4.30 pm
5.00 pm – 6.00 pm

Saturday and Sunday
12.30 pm – 1.30 pm
2.00 pm – 3.00 pm
3.30 pm – 4.30 pm
5.00 pm – 6.00 pm

All you need to pay for in the tent is the food - prices range from about £5 for a lovely cream tea to £15 for a full afternoon tea between two people. Buttercupcakes are once again being brilliant and supplying the tent with tea & cake. If you've got something to celebrate then just drop Lorna at Buttercupcakes a line and she can do you a special cake to order: info(at)buttercupcakes.co.uk

This year there are more tea sittings than ever before with each sitting featuring four cabaret & burlesque performances and their Gateaux Vivant girls. You may also end up seeing a special surprise performance from some of the artistes playing at Bestival!

Burlesque Classes
After the tea things have been cleared away each day there will be an hour long taster class in Burlesque – learn how to bump and grind from a pro, you’ll be shimmying your way through the rest of the weekend in no time!  Classes will be £5 and you can sign up at Time For Tease reception throughout the weekend.

Late Night Cabaret
Time For Tease has lured some of London’s most exciting cabaret nights to Bestival this year for their now infamous late night cabaret shows:

Friday night: The Double R Club
Out of the darkness of the woods of Robin Hill comes The Double R Club, London’s newest Cabaret & Burlesque phenomena!

Inspired by the dark and beautiful worlds of film maker David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead), we have acts that will tempt you, tease you, entertain you, make you laugh, make you cry... and perhaps even scare you beyond the capacity for rational thought...

An evening of “Damn fine” Lynchian Cabaret & Burlesque, of mystery and nightmares, played out to an otherworldly rock ‘n’ roll soundscape. Beware, the owls are not what they seem....

Saturday night: Beyond the Cabaret
Saturday night at Bestival can mean only one thing… theme night!

This years theme is ‘Fantasy’ and it falls on tonight’s guest promoter ‘Beyond the Cabaret’ to keep up the Time for Tease tradition for fully embracing and in turn ramming it down your collective throats.

Expect nothing but the very best in Cabaret and Variety from one of London’s most exciting new promoters with a proven eye for quality.

Sunday night: Flay & DeVille's Circus Of Marvels
To see the weekend out on a rousing, rollicking, rip-roaring finale, Flay & DeVille are proud to bring their End Of The Pier vaudeville extravaganza to Bestival on Sunday night!

Taking to the small island life with a will and a vengeance, Flay & DeVille will transport you back to a care-free time of innocence treasured and lost, of candy-floss and bad teeth, of penny arcades and What The Butler Saw, of knotted hankies, knobbly knees and occasional children lost at sea.

Expect from Messrs Flay & DeVille nothing but the very best that the current vaudeville and burlesque scene has to offer, presented with the enthusiasm and infectious energy that has made them the London Cabaret scene's best-kept secret.

'Afternoon tea with a dollop of burlesque cabaret - what's not to like?'
